Doug was among a relatively few players, during the early 1950ís, to come directly into The National League and one of the few players to play his whole career without ever having played in The Minor Leagues.
Doug was one of the most versatile players of his time. He could have played on any team in any era.
Doug was truly an "EXCEPTION."
